After studying Chinese at Edinburgh University, Kate worked as the manager of Robert Frew Ltd, an antiquarian booksellers in London. From there, she indulged her passion for books by studying bookbinding at the London College of Printing, the City Lit and Studio Five.
She has been awarded numerous prizes at the annual Designer Bookbinders competition including the Mansfield Medal and 1st prize for open choice and set book. Her work is represented in public and private collections around the world. In 2007 she was elected a licentiate member of the Designer Bookbinder. In 2008 she set up the Bookbinders Collective with Jo Bird.
She has recently established Mintyfresh books and is currently developing the company whilst continuing to work on a variety of design bindings at her studio in the West Country. She is very happy to work to commission and is available for teaching.
